How To Choose The Best Lawn Mower That Suits Your Needs

If you are in the market for a new mower, you have quite an array to choose from. Many quality manufacturers are making equipment these days. This has its good side and its bad side.

The consumer now has a wide variety to choose from, so there is a good quality mower for every job and budget. That is the up side. The down side is that the choice is more difficult and confusing now because of so many options.

First, you need to make the basic decision of which kind of grass cutter to get: ride on, or walk behind? If you choose to walk, you then narrow your choice to gasoline or electric. You’ll also want to grab an edger, since a lawn mower can’t reach all of the spots in the lawn.

But back to basics: which brand will you buy? With so many top-quality brands out there vying for your dollar it can be very hard to pick. Choose the right mower for the job and your price range.

Suppose you want a gas powered walking mower. If that is the case, you should look for Reel, Snapper, MTD, or Toro. These are all great manufacturers with reputable products. If you want a cordless electric model instead, check for Simplicity, Black & Decker, and Honda.

You’re better off with a riding mower, though, if your yard is large or if you are doing commercial mowing. In that case, look for the brands John Deere, Murray, and Husqvarna. These machines consistently perform well, get great reviews, and have zero-turn capabilities (basically they can pivot or rotate in place). These run on gasoline or petrol.

Regardless of the mower you choose, there will be repair costs sooner or later. Every mower experiences wear and tear. Figure you’ll have to do work on the belts, blades, and motor.

The engine is actually the part you want to really watch for. The mulching deck will probably last forever and give you no trouble, but the engine can be a real pain Đ and expensive Đ if it needs to be replaced. Take special care to maintain the engine by keeping oil in it, and by not storing your mower with gas in the tank.
