Premium Blue Cheese is Good Food
“Great Food is a Revelation”
That’s a quote I have heard often from one of my favorite restauranteurs, Francis Schott of Stage Left and Catherine Lombardi
Restaurants.
What he means is that when you finally taste really great food you will know it. Nothing else will EVER taste the same.
“That’s great, James – But how does this relate to losing weight and burning fat?”
Well — he also goes on to explain that with really good, quality food you often don’t need to eat as much to feel satisfied.
All of us have had that experience of “somehow” finishing off an entire bag of chips, or Doritos or M&M’s before we knew it was happening.
“Hey, how did the bag get empty?”
Potato chips, Fritos, Skittles — All Junk Food! — tastes good. That’s why we eat it! But ultimately, it’s unfulfilling. That’s why we can polish off an entire bag or bowl without noticing.
Consider the last time you got a box of really good chocolates. Chance are it lasted for several days if not weeks. Sure the price may have had something to do with your “rationing” — but you also likely didn’t feel the need to eat more than a couple of piece at a time. Possibly only one.
This is even more pronounce in my experience with everyday foods and drinks like cheese, beer and pastries. I can have one small piece of a high quality blue cheese that I get from a local producer, or one (maybe 2
Guinesses and a single Éclair and I’m good.
But place a party platter of cheese and meats, a 6 pack of Bud Light or a box of Little Debbies within reach and it’s Katy bar the door!
Important Note – I am NOT talking about parties or special events here. People who know me, know I love to party and enjoy myself. I really, REALLY hate to see someone who feels like they must stick to a strick diet during tailgating or a New Year’s Eve Party. So sad.
If you can find some good, quality food at these events (or take some!) then by all means, enjoy it. But if all there is is junk food — Well, enjoy that, too! Life is too short and tomorrow is soon enough to start dieting again.
So Here is The Deal:
Give this “Quality Food Plan” a try.
Skip the American Slices, Corn Chips and HoHo’s and grab yourself some premium foods.
When you crave a snack, get a small piece or tiny handfull.
See if you are satisfied. If not have another SMALL piece. Chances are that will do it.
This is CERTAINLY not meant to replace a Fat Burning or other plan you are on and I am NOT a doctor. But try it. It may work for you. It does for me.
And even if it doesn’t totally work — you still will be richer for trying the good stuff.
After all — “Great Food is a Revelation”
